Back When You Were Born

Your astrological birth chart, based on the time and place you were born, is a road map to the journey of your life. It can show you both where you have been and where you are going.

It is a lifelong guide to avoid roadblocks and find the best routes to reach your soul’s destination — a cosmic GPS system.

While it takes an astrologer to help you read this map correctly, there are also sign posts on your chart that are simply based upon your chronological age.

In other words, if you happen to be 18, 36, or 54 years of age, it may be time for your astrological oil change!

Here are some major ages and astrological stages in your life:

JUPITER RETURN

If you are 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, or 108 years old this year or next, you are experiencing the return of Jupiter to the sign in your chart at the time you were born – a “Jupiter Return.”

A Jupiter return indicates a new focus on your life purpose and spirituality. At the age of a Jupiter return, you may experience a new awakening of consciousness, a desire to make a spiritual pilgrimage (or take a long trip!), meet (or become!) a teacher, and commit to a new sense of direction you want your life to take.

It is a great time to re-align to your life purpose and set your course for the next 12 years.

Depending on where Jupiter is in your birth chart, an astrologer can tell you which area of life that this return will most affect.

SATURN RETURN

If you are between 29 and 30 years old, or nearing 60 years or 90 years, you are experiencing the return of Saturn to the sign in your chart when you were born – a “Saturn Return.”

A Saturn Return only happens about every 29 ½ years, 2 or 3 times in your life, and brings profound changes in how you and the world see yourself. It is marked by an onset of maturity, status, and a since of seriousness.

You are entering a new stage where your responsibilities change and you are encouraged to grow up and grow into who you are becoming.

There is a distinct sense of growing older, and hopefully about growing wiser. If you refuse to embrace this new sense of maturity and attempt to act below your age, you may be strongly corrected by circumstances around you.

KARMIC RETURN

If you are 18, 36, 54, 72, 90, or 108 years old, you are entering a new stage of karmic responsibilities as you experience the return of the two Vedic planets, Rahu and Ketu, in your birth chart.

This major cycle happens every 18 years and it presents you with the opportunity to put the past in its proper place and evaluate what you need to accomplish in the present moment.

Often your life becomes clearer in its design and purpose if you understand that everything that has occurred in your life up to this point is to prepare you to advance or complete the journey of your soul.

The consequences of actions taken in the previous 18 years need to be understood, acknowledged, and acted upon so you will not repeat mistakes or miss opportunities.

Again, depending on where these planets are in your birth chart can indicate which two areas of life are most affected by this karmic return.

SOLAR RETURN

Finally, there is an annual return that occurs on your birthday every year called the Solar Return. The Sun, or Solar Return, occurs when the sun comes back to the exact place it was at the time you were born – almost always the same day as your birthday.

The Solar Return chart is used by astrologers as a pointer and preview for your year ahead, especially as it relates to your career and health, and what your major theme of the year will be.

I always use the Solar Return chart in my readings as it can help you better understand the events since your last birthday and help you anticipate the possibilities for the next year.

Because it is so timely, a Solar Return astrological reading is a great birthday present for yourself – or someone you know!
