Experience the Gong: Heads Up!
How do you listen to the gong? Most people like to relax on their back with their feet facing the front of the room where the gong is played. And that’s fine.
But you may be missing out on a new gong experience if that’s all you ever do.
In my new book, Gong Therapy, I discuss the effects the gong can create in the listener depending on how the body is oriented in the room. Purchase online: Gong Therapy
Relaxing with the feet facing the gong allows energy to move upward through the chakras from the base to the crown. It is grounding for people who may feel disconnected from their body, have difficulty focusing or being present, as well as psychological and physical conditions connected to the first three chakras.
Relaxing with the feet facing the gong creates a deep opening of the self to the infinite. It can serve as a bridge to take you out of their limited sense of identity and connect you to a deeper understanding of their place in the cosmos. It may prove useful for working with addictive and eating disorders, as well schizophrenia, bipolar episodes, depression and conditions connected to the upper three chakras.
When relaxing so that the gong is played to the right side, there is an activation of the left hemisphere of the brain, which can be helpful in elevating the mood, activating energy, enhancing the analytic function of the mind, relieving depression, and healing conditions connected to your male polarity.
When relaxing so that the gong is played to the left side, there is an activation of the right hemisphere of the brain, which can be helpful in creating relaxation, release from tension and anxiety, awakening intuition, and healing conditions connected to your female polarity.
And where is the best place to hear the gong? If the gong is powerful enough and the room is not overly large, placing yourself in the back corners of the room (provided that the walls are not covered with drapery) can create a beautiful surround sound effect.
